5 pm Calgary time Ralf pulled into a gas station in Cluny.He didn't venture into the town as it was a few miles inland.He does not wish to travel more miles than need be.He's had one flat so far (over 5 hours); cycled thro' one storm;now sunny.Looking forward to reaching Brooks before he calls it a day-3-4 hours away.His brother- in- law,Warren,who is a Calgarian,told Ralf he won't make it that far on his first day.He should know better than posting a challenge like that.My money is on Ralf....what money?,we just paid for a wedding!
8:50 pm (10:50 Brampton time!!!!....everyone knows I'm in bed by 9 and sooner if able),phone call from Ralf.Arrived in Brooks-Attention Arbs...you owe him a case of beer (24) and not the cheap stuff.
Cycled 125 miles since left Calgary airport;rolling terrain out of Calgary;flatter near Brooks;warm,westerly winds "fell in love today"-with the prevailing westerlies.Top speed going downhill was 47 mph.Good thing he wears a helmet....it would really do a number on his hair.Has had 2 flats since left Calgary due to increased weight on rear tire- his body weight plus the additional 40 lbs in the saddle bags that hold his water and supplies.He's going to increase pressure in rear tire to see if this helps.
Going for dinner as hasn't eaten all day.(this trek will definitely shed a few pounds)
"Brooks has an airport but no one flys to Toronto...but will keep looking (lol)"
Plans on having a semi lazy day tomorrow (Monday) Will cycle to Medicine Hat and explore the city.
